Rank-based test procedures for inter- action in the two-way layout with one observation per cell

چکیده
New aligned-rank test procedures for the composite null hypothesis of no interaction effects (without placing restrictions on the two main effects) against appropriate composite general alternatives are developed for the standard two-way layout with a single observation per cell. Relative power performances of the two new aligned-rank procedures and existing tests due to Tukey (1949) and de Kroon & van der Laan (1981) are examined via Monte Carlo simulation. Extensive power studies conducted on the 5×6 and 5×9 two-way layouts with one observation per cell show superior performance of the new procedures for a variety of interaction effects. Simulated critical values for the new procedures are provided in settings where the numbers of levels for each of the factors is between 3 and

Integrative Cell Formation and Layout Design in Cellular Manufacturing Systems
This paper proposes a new integrative view of manufacturing cell formation and both inter-cell and intra-cell layout problems. Cells formation and their popular bi-directional linear layout are determined simultaneously through a Dynamic Programming algorithm (with the objective of minimizing the inter-cell flow cost under a cell size constraint). This Dynamic Programming algorithm is implement...
متن کاملComparing two testing procedures in unbalanced two-way ANOVA models under heteroscedasticity: Approximate degree of freedom and parametric bootstrap approach
The classic F-test is usually used for testing the effects of factors in homoscedastic two-way ANOVA models. However, the assumption of equal cell variances is usually violated in practice. In recent years, several test procedures have been proposed for testing the effects of factors. In this paper, the two methods that are approximate degree of freedom (ADF) and parametric bootstr...
متن کاملMachine Reliability in a Dynamic Cellular Manufacturing System: A Comprehensive Approach to a Cell Layout Problem
The fundamental function of a cellular manufacturing system (CMS) is based on definition and recognition of a type of similarity among parts that should be produced in a planning period. Cell formation (CF) and cell layout design are two important steps in implementation of the CMS. This paper represents a new nonlinear mathematical programming model for dynamic cell formation that employs the ...
متن کاملA Mathematical Model for Integrating Cell Formation Problem with Machine Layout
This paper deals with the cellular manufacturing system (CMS) that is based on group technology concepts. CMS is defined as identifying the similar parts that are processed on the same machines and then grouping them as a cell. The most proposed models for solving CMS are focused on cell formation problem while machine layout is considered in few papers. This paper addresses a mathematical mo...
متن کاملRobust inter and intra-cell layouts design model dealing with stochastic dynamic problems
In this paper, a novel quadratic assignment-based mathematical model is developed for concurrent design of robust inter and intra-cell layouts in dynamic stochastic environments of manufacturing systems. In the proposed model, in addition to considering time value of money, the product demands are presumed to be dependent normally distributed random variables with known expectation, variance, a...
